Syracuse, N.Y. - Oswego residents will meet to come up with new ideas for improving the future of their city. Meetings today and tomorrow at the McCrobie Building will focus on updating the current Oswego 2020 Vision Comprehensive Plan.
The project started in 2003 and has since developed the city's water front, filled vacancies in unused building and is ready to start building a new conference center. Mary Vanouse, the Oswego community development director, expects this meeting to create even more ideas.

"I expect we'll have a really great turnout tonight," Vanouse said. "And people in this community are really fantastic about coming together and talking about what they want to see and making it happen and I think you're going to see it here again tonight."
Vanouse said the plan has completed nearly half of the 213 items created in 2003. With the help of the Office of Community Renewal's $25,000 grant a future project includes improving Oswego's tourism. For instance, residents want a beach with new hotels and restaurants on the waterfront.
The attendees at today's meeting will take a walking tour of the city to see the improvements that have already been made. Following the walk, there will be an interactive workshop looking at four areas: the neighborhoods, downtown, the waters and gateways and parks.
Thursday's meeting will present the ideas and projects from today.
